Girls Day Out in STEM – Metaverse World
For the Girls Day Out in STEM 2025 event, I designed and developed a fully interactive metaverse world used to host hundreds of students across eight themed virtual islands. Each island represented a real industry partner (Powerlink, Mater Research, Datamine, UQ, Telstra, Advanced Navigation, Imagine Realities, and more), with activities, 3D environments, and branded spaces that encouraged exploration and engagement.
The project combined education, gamification, and storytelling in a single immersive experience:
Custom 3D Environments – Stylized, low-poly art style tailored for the Spatial Creator Toolkit, optimized for web and VR performance.
Interactive Activities – From DNA microscopes to navigation challenges, each island featured hands-on interactions designed to reflect the company’s real-world STEM work.
Scalable Multiplayer – Students could log in simultaneously, interact socially, and complete challenges as a shared group experience.
Brand & Identity Integration – Company logos, mascots, and themes were adapted into the 3D space, giving each partner a strong, unique presence.
Event Hosting Ready – The world was deployed in Spatial.io, allowing for live guided sessions, networking, and replayable activities after the event.
The result was a gamified learning environment that turned a traditional career expo into an interactive journey. Students didn’t just hear about STEM—they experienced it.
